Indian cricket board president Sourav Ganguly is currently in Edgbaston to watch the India vs England Test series.  It was from this England that the Maharaj arose.  The sparkling century in the debut Test at Lord's created a sensation in the entire cricket world.

Tabar Tabar cricketers are forced to thank him.  Some need it, some love it.  However, Geoffrey Boycott, the former opener of the England cricket team, was in this love list.  After that innings of 131 runs, Sourav did not have to look back.  And Boycott started lovingly calling Sourav 'Prince of Calcutta'.

Sourav's nickname was Maharaj.  And Boycott started calling him Prince even though he couldn't translate that name literally into English.  And since Sourav came up from Calcutta violin, there was no difficulty in matching the rest of the calculation.  Many years have passed since that innings in 1996.  After witnessing many ups and downs in his cricket career, Sourav is the BCCI President today.

On the other hand, the boycott has reduced cricket commentary a lot due to cancer.  But, when these two giants of world cricket met each other again on the second day of Edgbaston, Boycott's eyes still showed that love.  In fact, a new book by Geoffrey Boycott 'Being Geoffrey Boycott' is about to be published.  And he wanted this book to be inaugurated by his beloved 'Prince of Calcutta'.  As thought, so act.  Boycott came to Edgbaston's VIP box.  Sourav too was in a slightly lighter mood as the second session of the second day was halted for a while due to rain.

He also approached the boycott with a smile and launched the book.  Then the whole box was filled with applause.  Now let's talk about the match.  In the first innings, the Indian cricket team was all out for 416 runs.  Rishabh Pant (146) and Ravindra Jadeja (104) scored impressive centuries.  Indian cricket team captain Jasprit Bumrah took 35 runs in one over of Stuart Broad.  He himself, however, scored 31 runs off 16 balls.

But Bumrah has shown excellence not only with the bat, but also with the ball.  So far, England have lost three wickets for 60 runs.  And Bumrah has hunted these three wickets.
